Question: You will see from my chart that I have a very quick temper and tend towards impatience - Moon in Aries, square Mars and Uranus. I wondered if you could see anything else there that could be used or developed to counteract this tendency to fly off the handle sometimes. It happens before I have time to think about it very often. I sometimes manage to consciously count to ten but then often fall back into the old habits. Maybe it is good for me to release this energy and just accept it as 'me'. On the other hand it can cause problems with others and I have sometimes felt very guilty about it afterwards. J. Cheshire

Answer: Thanks for your question about handling that very assertive and sometimes over-reactive part of your personality. Great that you've taken active steps to attempt control the situation, like counting to 10, but you have to accept that you are somebody who is naturally bursting with energy and this has to find an outlet somehow. Becoming aware of what it is that upsets you so that you can eventually anticipate the outcome might be one solution, or finding more energetic ways to burn off all that energy may be another way forward. Without being in long term therapy I think you might find it helpful if you were able to acknowledge that there is also an 'inner' Jane, remote from what goes on in your outer daily life, where you can find a sense of peace and calmness. A place where you can switch off from all that external activity, refresh yourself and find inspiration for the future. This, as you may already be aware, can be found through meditation. There are many forms of meditation and you would need to find the one which suited you but my own experience suggests that Transcendental Mediation (T) is a very simple but powerful tool and could be the answer. However, for you to be able to sit still for long enough to do any form of meditation would take Will, but it maybe worth giving it a try.

Question: When I am trying to count aspect lines in a chart and work out the colour balance, I am not sure which colour to start with and whether there is a 'best or correct way' to do it.

Answer: I don't think there is any 'best' or 'correct' way to count the aspect colours. Chose whichever way suits you; there are no 'rules' and sometimes when the ratio is unclear you will need to use your intuition as well as be aware of the overall picture of the chart.

Question: Can you explain the purpose of having three charts in Huber Astrology?

Answer: The Hubers' were very influenced by the teachings of Alice Bailey, and it was from these that they developed the theory relating to the use of the three charts. You do not arrive in this world with no roots in the 'past' so in essence the Nodal chart is a picture of what you bring into this life based on the influences of past experiences. The Natal chart is a picture of the potential which you are born with and the tools you are provided with in order to accomplish this, whilst the House chart shows not only the influences which will be brought to bear on you during your life journey but also clues as what you have to develop in order to realise the potential of the Natal chart.

Question: Why do you draw a circle in the middle of the chart and never draw aspect lines through it?

Answer: The Circle in the Centre of the chart symbolises our own 'Centre'. If you can imagine viewing the chart horizontally, in other words seeing it sideways on, and then imagine that it represents the centre plane of an egg, so that there is space below the chart wheel and space above it. Imagine all the contents of your chart are somewhere within the egg and that the circle in the centre of the chart is really a column of light which stretches from the bottom of the egg to the top of the egg and though which nothing passes. This column of light symbolises our connection with the collective unconscious, and most importantly with the collective superconscious and our aspirations for evolution and spiritual growth.

Question: 'P’ -  Birth data:   11th November 1955, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, UK   20.18 GMT

My question is that, I have the sign of Scorpio with no low point in it, and I have Sun, Saturn and Mercury in that sign.  My Moon which is conjunct Mars, is intercepted in Libra in the 4th house and connected to the Sun via a semi sextile.  I am wondering if you can give any ideas as to how best to work with the two ego planets and Mercury, which are in a sign with no low point, bearing in mind also, that my Moon is so trapped within the 4th house and only has the Sun through which to express?  I do have trouble feeling as though I cannot express my true self.

Natal Chart

Hello ‘P’. First let me say that you are asking for a simple answer to a very complex situation! But I will do my best to offer some suggestions which you may find helpful.

Answer: The Five Levels

If you recall the Five Levels in the chart you will appreciate that its important not to confuse the levels of the Signs and the Houses. The fact that there is no Low Point in the Sign of Scorpio does not in itself present you with a problem. Sun & Saturn are not especially strong by Sign but they are strong by House so they have every potential to express themselves in such a way as be successful when you set your mind to achieving an objective. The same applies to Mercury which, with its connections to Neptune and Uranus, could be wonderfully imaginative and creative.  However, you say you have a problem with expressing your true self so I wonder whether the  conjunction of Saturn to the Sun inhibits you when it comes to using your Will and expressing yourself?

House Chart

House ChartIf I look at your House chart I note that Pluto conjunct Jupiter becomes Square to Sun/Saturn and to me this suggests ‘control or inhibition’.  There is certainly a strong family link indicated by the three ego planets, and the Moon conjunct Mars suggests that as a child you might have expressed your feelings in a way which, at times, your parents found difficult to cope with and therefore the possibility exists that you learned to ‘hold back’ and that this has continued into adult life. If this all strikes a chord with you then your creative Mercury might be able to help you to sort out the situation. All those six planets from Moon to Saturn are linked with a conjunction in your House chart so they need to be ‘disentangled’ in order to be able to realise their full potential, So first of all how about imagining each of them as a character in a play?

Sub-personalities.

You’ll need writing materials then, with imagination, bring them to life and write down a description of  each one in as much detail as possible. Develop each character as though they were real members of the cast in a play. What does each look like, what are they wearing, how do you feel about each of them, and so on? Then imagine that all of these sub-personalities are on stage at the same time, so the stage if very crowded and there’s probably a great deal of tension, confusion  and argument going on with no clear idea of what they're trying to achieve together. Try some self-guided imagery and explore each character in turn. Allow them to share with you their names, how they feel about themselves and especially their individual wants and needs and what stops them from getting these needs met. This is not something you can do in a couple of hours, it needs time and you need to find out what their needs are and how you can help to get these met. Maybe you can even find some toys which can represent each of these characters so that you can get to know them better. Hopefully you will get a sense of what goes on between them and whether there are ways in which you can help them to satisfy their needs, as well as getting them to work together for a purpose.

Moon/Mars.

You also ask about these intercepted planets. Well, I’ve included them in the imaginary play above but aside from that they will need to be able to express themselves through their link to Sun/Saturn. However, you will appreciate that if there’s something of a blockage in that direction then this cannot happen. So at an emotional level it is likely that you will find life very frustrating at times!  I think that if you were able to develop the ‘play’ theme you might find ways to clear any blockage, rather like removing a key log on a blocked raft of timber trying to flow down a  river!
