Conference News
Coverage of APA conferences and others that our members attend as guest speakers.
The Astrological Psychology Association at the AA Conference 18th -20th September 2009 Wyboston Lakes, near Cambridge.
Tutors Sue Lewis and Kathy Rogers spoke at this year’s Astrological Association Conference, titled ‘The World In Transit’.
Kathy spoke on two themes:
In “Our Life Scripts: the Dynamic Quadrants of Huber
Astrology”and described how the dynamic
quadrants illustrate our habitual sequences of behaviour
governing how we each, individually, approach the tasks
in our lives. In this presentation Kathy used the charts
of famous people to illustrate how, through working
with this technique, we can change limiting patterns of
behaviour, recognise our strengths and thereby achieve
our goals.
“Timing and Your Life Journey: the Age Point in Huber Astrology” In her second talk Kathy described how Age Progression describes our unique and individual developmental process. She explored how this technique helps you to understand the psychological theme at work in your life, how it is contributing to the events you are experiencing and the meaning it has for your growth.

Sue spoke as a representative of APA
in
the Student Track. The title of her talk was “Working with the Natal, Moon Node and House
Charts”
After a brief introduction to how we interpret Natal, Nodal and House Charts, Sue demonstrated ways in which using all three charts can give us a deeper understanding of political and sports personalities (Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Joanna Lumley, Roger Federer and Andy Murray), and of the scope of a major artist (Pablo Picasso) whose work was reassessed at an exhibition in London, “Challenging the Past” in spring 2009.

The 25th Anniversary Conference proved to be a successful and entertaining day with the three speakers offering a varied programme of lectures. Richard Llewellyn, who started The Astrological Psychology Association 25 years ago, opened the Conference with wise words and optimism for the future.
The day attracted current students, graduates of the School, as well as people interested in learning more about the Huber approach. Judging by the book sales for the day, they must have wanted to learn more.
The atmosphere was one of the Huber family coming together - one in which everyone is made very welcome - a distinctive feature of The Astrological Psychology Association.
We saw a fascinating video presentation, compiled by Barry and Joyce, charting the development of The Astrological Psychology Association over the past 25 years. You can watch it by clicking on the links to the right of the page. You will need to download the Photodex plug in, if you do not already have it, before clicking on the link to video itself.
Joyce Hopewell and Sue Lewis spoke in the morning
The theme of Joyce's talk was 'The Living Birthchart'. When your birthchart comes alive and becomes an integral part of your everyday life, then your astrology lives. She shared some of the ideas from her new book "The Living Birthchart".

Sue's theme was 'Hüber astrology: a place in tradition and a role in the 21st century'.
She set it in an historical context and outlined a Neptunian myth that opens the way to looking at the chart of a young woman of 30. The group was encouraged to chip in while we looked at it.
After lunch we were treated to an entertaining and humerous talk by Dave Dawes, a motivational speaker who works mainly in the NHS. He spoke on setting and achieving goals, about what really holds us back and how to overcome the two main obstacles, fear and inertia.
During an interval Caroline Black gave a rivetting monologue from Shakespeare's King Lear, which was very well applauded.
The whole team, Barry, Kathy, Helen, Elly, Maria and Linda had spent months organising the day and continued to work really hard on the day to make it the success it was.
Maria's floral decorations brightened up the room considerably.
Astrology Question Time
The day was rounded off with an 'Astrology Question Time' session. The audience asked a panel of tutors questions on APA and astrological psychology.
