Tony Blair 06.05.1953 06:10 Edinburgh
Looking at the chart of the Prime Minister is really no different from looking at anyone else's chart! The same principles and approaches to interpretation are applied.
With Tony Blair's 51st birthday coming up, it might be interesting to see what his chart, and current psychological life phase, suggests. Is what we see what we get, or are there other, more hidden facets to his personality?
We can begin by taking note of the overall appearance of the chart - is there an image or picture that comes to mind when we focus on the whole representation of the coloured aspect structure in the centre? A lopsided umbrella, maybe, or a tilted pram with its hood up? There is a sense of him needing to protect and shield his own personal "inner sanctum", and also to have an escape route away from the demands of the outside world.
Tony Blair needs stability and security in his life - he will always gravitate towards this end and will hang on determinedly. His inner motivation shows this and it is supported by his Taurean Sun. He is unlikely to run out of energy, has the capacity to learn and assimilate new information and skills, and may experience a marked work/play ambivalence. Mars, close to his Gemini Ascendant will agitate and stimulate all forms of communication. His trademark "Look - y'know…." accompanied by hand waving and gesticulations are manifestations of this. Jupiter conjunct Mars will exaggerate this effect. His Sun in Taurus is in the 12th House, suggesting he needs space to recoup his energies and have time for himself. His professed Christian faith is well-known, and it has been reported in reputable newspapers that he needs to partake of the sacrament regularly in order to cope with the demands of his role. His 12th House Sun would support this - yet his Sun, symbolising his personal sense of self and creativity, may at times feel very unseen and misunderstood.
He will rely on his charm and emotional responses to channel some of his personal power out into the world - think of that smile. There is a touch of the iron fist in the velvet glove at work here, as well as in other areas of his chart, echoing the need to hang on and not let go. The song "Never smile at a crocodile" comes to mind! There is also a sense of vulnerability in his chart - a potential openness to all-comers which he may compensate for heavily, together with the possibility that his feeling nature is exposed and more apparent than a politician might wish it to be! The current life phase he is moving through is one of intense activity. He may be trying his utmost to establish structures, yet is caught up in a whirlwind of changing circumstances. Now approaching age 51, he is heading, within the next year or so, for a major re-think regarding what life is about, perhaps revisiting some of the high deals of youth, reflecting on what has brought him to the position he is in at this point of his life, and looking at where - and how - he might move on.
