Prince Harry, 15.9.1984 16.20 Paddington, London

Prince Harry's ChartWith a track record of riotous living, drinking and a drug habit, Prince Harry has been hitting the headlines again over the past few months. In the autumn of 2004, he was involved in a fracas outside a London night club, which ended with him punching a member of the paparazzi. In January 2005, he wore a Nazi uniform to the fancy dress party he attended close to the date of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. There was world-wide condemnation of this in the media, and it was reported that he got a severe carpeting from his father, Prince Charles.

A look at his chart might reveal some insights into what is going on in this young man's life. The shaping of Harry's chart is rather like a trumpet or megaphone; it's not difficult to imagine a mouthpiece at the bottom, formed by the conjunction between the Moon and the North Node, with the wide open mouth of the megaphone at the top. Does Harry need to say 'Here I am! Notice me!'in a big way? I suspect he does.

The aspect patterns in his chart include two Projection Figures, both pointing to the top of the chart. Louise Huber says that people with a less-developed awareness experience this figure as a spontaneous, unconscious process, in which personal needs, deficiencies and images are relayed to the environment. Harry's Moon in the 4th House, close to the IC, suggests he has a strong urge to 'belong' and fit in in some way - his gap year work experiences and getting stuck into helping despatch aid for the Asian tsunami are examples of this. Yet by birth he is always going to be the 'spare' rather than the heir, and the task of learning and accepting this is highlighted by the Moon's conjunction to the North Node. If Harry can, with maturity, acquire a balance between fitting in, and finding a suitable role for himself out in the world, he will be able to draw on the strength, discipline and structure that Saturn close to the MC can offer.

Saturn, in the context of the Family Model, symbolises the mothering principle. With Saturn so high in his chart, he probably experienced Diana as the most dominant and influential of his parents, yet it is likely that there were conflicts between them, symbolised by the opposition between his Moon ( Harry the child) and Saturn ( Diana his mother). The trine between Moon and Sun (symbolising the father) suggests that Harry may well adapt his behaviour to Charles's expectations.

At the time of writing (February 2005), Harry's Age Point is conjunct his Moon. This indicates a great need on his part to be noticed and loved, and to recognise his own emotional needs and self. This may go some way towards explaining and understanding his current wayward and tasteless behaviour, but it's no excuse for it. Harry's chart contains two direct Dominant Learning Triangles. These will give him on-going opportunities throughout life to learn - and carry on learning! - about himself, his needs and his own innate sensitivity and abilities. It's all there. Let's hope he can find and use these attributes. See 'Aspect Pattern Astrology' by Bruno, Louise and Michael A. Huber. Available from API Book Shop.'
