Michael Moore, 23/04/1954, 12:45pm, Flint, Michigan [Data from Lois Rodden's astrodatabank, AA rating.]
The shaggy figure of Michael Moore has become well known as film/ documentary maker, author and leading critic of the Bush administration.
His chart looks a bit like origami in progress, corresponding with Moore's somewhat unkempt and shambling appearance.
There is a striking positioning of the Sun in Taurus at the top of the chart (Moore is a BIG and striking figure) opposite the gap between Neptune and Saturn in the third House. The gap suggests a connection with the concerns of the collective, and there is no doubt that Moore has touched into a concern of the collective in his campaigns - his books and films have been enormously popular best-sellers.
The 'ideal' positioning of Sun at the top of the chart near the MC, with Saturn right at the bottom on the DC and the Moon on the You-side in the 5th House of relating seems to correlate with Moore's overwhelming aura of self confidence.
Another striking feature is the red wall on the You-side, the square between Mercury and the Moon's Node. The world does not see the real Michael Moore; it cannot get past his show of communication (Mercury). Moore describes himself as 'a very private person' (South Node stressed just before the 12th House cusp suggests he will tend to be most comfortable with his own private self in the 12th House.)
Looking at the aspect structure, there is a four-sided figure from Neptune to Venus to Jupiter to Pluto. In Bruno and Louise Huber's 'Aspect Pattern Astrology' this figure is described as a 'Recorder', which "acts like a recorder that stores. feelings situations and destinies, and can replay them in such a way that one imagines that they are there." This appears to correlate remarkably with Moore's recording his own perception of the world and replaying it in books and films.
The efficiency triangle with Mercury, cuspal Uranus and Moon's Node corresponds with his ability to work hard in the prolific production of novel forms of books and films.
Looking at Age Progression, Moore attended a catholic seminary at age 14 in the hopes of becoming a priest. His age point passed over idealistic Neptune just after age 15.
At age 35, with Age Point coming up to the DC, Moore decided that he must himself make the films he had thought 'someone ought to do.' His first idealistic film 'Roger and Me' showed the impact on his local community of Flint when General Motors closed down a plant. (Becoming individualised over the DC, Age Point square Sun, Saturn and Neptune all around this time.) His film 'Bowling for Columbine' in 2002 won a prize at Cannes and an Oscar, followed by 'Fahrenheit 9/11' winning the Palme d'Or in 2004 when Age Point was conjunct Mercury! In between came books on 'Stupid White Men' (2001), and 'Dude Where's My Country' (2003).
This prolific spell came after Age Point went into the Sign Aries in 2000.
At age 18 Moore won a race for public office on the Flint school board. Age Point was conjunct Saturn and opposite Sun. One wonders what will happen when Age Point conjuncts his Sun in 2007!
